There was nothing, darkness. That's all she saw was darkness. Suddenly a small white speck appeared in the darkness. She ran to it, faster and faster. Then she stopped. The small speck exploded into a blinding white light. She heard a voice calling to her name, then it appeared, the woman, she was vague at first but then she came into focus and the light faded around her yet she was perfectly visible. Then pain came, or at least she thought it was pain, afterall there was nothing to be painful. Then it appeared her body, herself. Claudia.
The girl who was once a vampire, an insane, crazed vampire. But what had made her go insane? There were no circumstances of her death that would have caused her madness, no definining moment but still. Then she knew, she knew why she had gone mad it was the images, her visions.
Then Claudia brought her attention back to the woman who beckoned her.
"Who are you?" Claudia asked.
"I don't think my name is of importance." The woman said.
Claudia's memory sparked, she was the woman from the stake, with the red sky. "I'd really like to know."
"If it is what you must know, it is Sarah, Sarah Crenshaw."
"Ok, that's fine and dandy but why are you here?" Claudia questioned.
"You, and me have something in common as do others in the world." Sarah explained.
"Ok, look I don't mean to be rude but, can you cut to the point."
"I was called many things in my day, Witch, and even a fallen angel. Those were different times however they didn't know, about certain aspects of life, the demons. All they did was follow their bibles like sheep. They thought I was causing it."
"Causing what, what are you?" Claudia pleaded.
"There were a series of deaths in my village."
Claudia's mind flashed, she could see every death hear the screaming.
"Somehow, I knew it was happening, I could feel it, it was almost all I could see. My own mother told the council I was a witch, that I'd been touched by evil. They came to my house and tore me from my bed. I was given a trial..."
Claudia's mind flashed again to Sarah crying as she was dragged from the courthouse to the large wooden stake.
"They found me guilty of witchcraft. They burned me to death, but before I died, I saw it. Our first sign, the red sky, It was an eclipse, the last thing I saw. After I died, the town was destroyed, nothing was left just death. I was the first to die that year, there were others, four more."
"What does this have to do with me?" Claudia asked.
"It's beginning again Claudia, you were the first. You have to help them, the chosen. They can't do it alone."
"Who are the chosen, and what can't they do alone?" Claudia asked.
"Stop the apocalypse."
Jolten, Florida.
A woman ran from her house screaming, sweat dripping from her face as she ran. The woman was wearing only slippers and they flew off as she ran. Behind her a black shadow followed leaping from building to building.
The woman ducked into a dark alley, she breathed heavily and closed her eyes as she put her hand on her stomach, which protruded awkwarly infront of her. She was pregnant, 7 months pregnant to be more precise. the woman's eyes shot open, she heard a noise, it was beside her, no maybe above her. She didn't know she heard it everywhere.
The woman ran out of the alley and crashed into a dark figure. She screamed and pounded the chest of the figure. The figure grabbed her and held her tight.
"Are you alright?" The figure asked. It was an older man, he was homeless and dirty.
"Oh my god, you have to help me. Call the police or something."
The woman was knocked to the ground. The dark shadow held the homeless man by the neck. She heard a crack and the man fell to the ground.
"Oh god, NO! NO!" The woman said before screaming at the top of her lungs.
Paige and Mona arrived back at the warehouse. Bianca greeted them.
"Oh thank god you're ok, that earthquake was something else." Bianca said.
"Yeah, it was pretty fun, Paige almost got crushed by a streetlight. Oh and by the way turns out Claudia, not too dead afterall, well she is now. Turns out Claudia was a vampire, a rather insane, creepy vampire." Mona told Nika and Bianca.
"How?" Nika asked.
"Long story." Mona answered shortly.
"Ok, so we've got problems here too. Flaming homeless people with cryptic messages." Nika told Mona.
"Huh?" Mona asked.
"Well, there was this crazy homeless lady, she was all 'I know what you are, blah, blah, blah. It's upons us blah, blah, blah. Oh and here's the kicker, she sounded like our good friend The Horseman." Nika explained.
"But he's dead." Mona said.
"Obviously not, he just Greta Garbo'd on us for a while." Nika said.
"That would explain the earthquake I guess right?" Paige offered
"And the It's Upon Us, thing." Bianca added.
"Ok so we're thinking apocalypse..." Mona finished.
"Yeah, sounds like fun." Nika said.
"Well.. that was quicker than I thought." Bianca nodded her head.
"So... goodnight then?" Mona shrugged.
"Yeah I guess." Nika said and walked to the door of her room.
"See you guys tomorrow." Bianca called as her slayers went into their rooms to sleep.
Bianca left early in the morning before the others awoke to retrieve the newspaper to read what the papers were saying about the earthquake. She grabbed the newspaper from a vendor on the street and walked back to the warehouse. She unfolded the paper to read the headline. "Overnight Deaths Baffle Police."
Bianca read the herself. " Last night police officers were called to the sites of four murders. Names of the victims were not released but three of the four were pregnant woman in different stages of their pregnancy. The ranges of the pregnancies were from 3-8 months.
A fourth body was discovered along side one of the pregnant women. It is suspected that the man was murdered because he witnessed the murders. Sheriff Alex Maloy of Jolten Police Department commented that the police department would not rest until a suspect was found.
If an arrest is made it is unknown if the suspect will be charged with the deaths of the children aswell. This story continued on page 12."
Bianca put the paper down, murder was one thing to her but th emurder of children was one of the highest things on her list of most disgusting acts known to man, or something other than man. Something told Bianca that it was something else, something unhuman, something sinister.
In her sleep Paige was calm, tranquil and warm. She was happy, floating around inside her mind. Then screams erupted inside her head, horrible screaming, blinding light. Then her eyes shot open, she was having a cold sweat, she breathed heavily before falling back into her pillow.
Alex Maloy sheriff of JPD, walked into the morgue, the face of the medical examiner.
"Sheriff." The man said as Alex walked up.
"Autopsies done?" Alex asked.
"Yes." The M.E replied.
"Any answers?"
"The fetises were completely removed, the mother's were ripped wide open Alex. It's not pretty."
"I would imagine not. Do you think I could have a copy of those reports?" Alex asked.
"Of course." The M.E handed the autopsies to the sheriff and went back to working the bodies of the other deceased in the morgue.
Bianca told the slayers about the murders of the pregnant women. She made sure to say it didn't seem right to her, it seemed odd, espescially the fact that it was pregnant women who were murdered.
"I had a strange dream, screaming, blinding light." Paige explained.
"Well there is someway we can find out any demons that match pregnant women being murdered." Bianca told the others. "Willow, she set up an online database for demons and such. With all the slayers everywhere she thought since Mr Giles couldn't give his books to everybody, she'd bring the books to us."
"And we're just learning this now?" Nika asked.
Mona pulled the laptop onto her lap from on top of the nearby table.
"URL?" she asked.
"www.youarethechosen.net" Bianca said.
The page popped up and revelealed the dark black page with a small white box marked password.
"scythe" Bianca added.
A new page popped up and revealed a brighter webpage, with a smiling picture of Buffy at the top. Mona clicked on the button marked search. She typed in pregnant women deaths and baby eating into the box. One result popped up.
"It says Lamia." Mona told the others.
